TWO HOUR CHARITY AUCTION: JdL or Tara VM msg!One of the people who donated a seat at the meet&greet for John de Lancie, Lauren Faust and Tara Strong the night prior to BronyCon ALSO donated a voicemail message!
So, I'm holding a quick two-hour charity auction to sell it off for charity!
This is for a voicemail recording, up to 1 minute in length, done by EITHER John de Lancie (Discord, Q) OR Tara Strong (Twilight Sparkle).
All proceeds will be donated to CARE (http://www.care.org/) immediately.
Bidding starts at $50. Please increase bids in at least $10 increments. BIDDING CLOSES AT 8:30 PM Eastern (US) sharp, per my clock; I currently register the time as 6:29 PM, so that's two hours and one minute.
To bid, just respond to this message with your bid. Winning bidders will be contacted via Note.
The TPM: Working for the CommunityI've run into some people who have expressed doubts about the :iconMLP-FIM-TPM:. These people seem to think that it is somehow skeezy or underhanded, without looking into what the TPM actually represents. I feel it's important for me to write a bit about what the Museum actually is, and what it does.
The TPM grew out of Inky Notebook's desire to create an 'artist spotlight' at this summer's upcoming BronyCon. Her intention was to create an event at which lesser-known artists could be given a chance to shine.
Since then, though, the scope of the project has been expanded. In addition to bringing the works of lesser-known, underappreciated artists to the wider pony community, the Museum ALSO promotes the work of well-known artists such as :iconPixelKitties: and :iconEgophiliac:. The goal is to share the joys of unique and rare pony art with as many people as possible, both within and outside the pony fan community. That is why TPM aims to bring its collection to as many conventions as po
Advice for prospective convention organisersRecently, I was asked on Twitter for advice for a prospective convention organiser. Here are some tidbits I wish somepony had told me around a year ago, before I started BronyCon (and long before I stepped down due to my distaste for sauropodian interference). The below is adapted and expanded from my Tweets.
 Have lots of money.
 Be prepared to lose it.
 Have a good psychotherapist.
Invite local brony celebs as guests before you get to the stage where you can invite VAs and show staff.
Dealing with a multibillion-dollar toy company (you know which one I mean) is like dancing with a dinosaur.
Be prepared to spend 40 hours a week working on the convention.
Be prepared to not see a penny for it.
Be prepared for conventiongoers to think you're getting filthy rich anyways.
Any ticket cost is 'too high'. (See )
You can't please all of the ponies all of the time. No matter what decision you make, somepony will HATE it. Furthermore, many of those will
Rumour controlEver since shortly after BroNYCon January, ugly rumours about me, and about the con, have circulated over and over throughout the Internet. (They have been accompanied by frequent LGBT-bashing attacks and bigotry.) This isn't a coincidence or the random work of disinterested trolls. It is a deliberate and prolonged smear campaign.
Shortly after BroNYCon January, five staffers made a power grab, attempting to obtain financial and logistical control over the con. I did not let them seize control. They walked; only two returned even temporarily to the staff. These now ex-staffers have been leaking documents and spreading lies and distortions about me, and about BronyCon, ever since. Their aim was to destroy my reputation and that of the con.
When I was on the staff myself, I wasn't allowed to react to any of this. I was under tremendous pressure from the staff to ignore these rumours. But the people spreading them are very persistent. It's late March, and the rumours are still swirling. A
